About the Wine:
2013 was a spectacular vintage for Napa. ROY Estate's Proprietary Red was harvested between 27th September and 14th October and macerated for 21 days in concrete tanks before 100% barrel fermentation. It was then kept in 100% new French (Taransaud) oak for 18 months prior to bottling on 21st August, 2015. It was then loving aged in ROY's cellar before release in 2016.
ROY Estate's Proprietary Red wine demonstrates the heights of what can be achieved by artful crafting. This single vineyard, Estate grown Proprietary Red, produced in limited quantities of 400 to 800 cases, is a wine of striking complexity, beautifully polished with substantial structure.
ROY Estate Proprietary Red 2013
“The 2013 Proprietary Red Estate is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. This wine was aged in 85% new Taransaud oak for 19 months prior to bottling of 650 cases. The wine is a beauty, with loads of charcoal, scorched earth, blackcurrants and blackberry fruit present, along with underlying smoky notes. It is dense purple, full-bodied, and rich, with moderate tannin. This wine will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and drink well for another 20-25 years.”
96+ points, Robert Parker (Oct. 2015)
