About the Wine:

The fruit ROY Estate's Mr. Evans Proprietary Red  (100% Estate) was harvested between 6th September and 6th October, and macerated for 26 days in concrete tanks before 100% barrel fermentation. It was then kept in 100% new French (Taransaud) oak for 20 months prior to bottling on 20th June, 2019. It was then loving aged in ROY's cellar before release.

ROY Estate's Mr. Evans Proprietary Red wine demonstrates the heights of what can be achieved by artful crafting. This single vineyard, Estate grown Proprietary Red, produced in limited quantities of 400 to 800 cases, is a wine of striking complexity, beautifully polished with substantial structure.

  • “The Roy Estate Proprietary Red Wine has a new label name and design, and it will be called Mr. Evans Estate Proprietary Red going forward. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot aged for 18 to 20 months in 75% new 225-liter Taransaud French oak barrels, the 2016 Mr. Evans Estate Proprietary Red is very deep garnet-purple in color, with beautiful cassis, crushed blackberries and wild blueberries scents with touches of violets, tilled soil, fungi, menthol and smoked meats plus a hint of cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied and tightly wound with loads of mineral accents coming through in the mouth, it's framed by very ripe, fine-grained tannins, finishing long and layered. 800 cases produced, to be released in the spring of 2019."
