About the Wine:

2016 was a fantastic vintage for Napa. The fruit for the ROY Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Estate) was harvested between 20th and 30th September, and the maceration lasted 24 days, before 100% barrel fermentation. It was then transferred to 100% new French (Taransaud) oak for 29 months prior to bottling on 25th March, 2019. It was then lovingly cellared at ROY until release.

The very limited production of 300 to 450 cases of Roy Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is the end result of the meticulous efforts of ROY Estate's entire vineyard and winemaking team. This single vineyard, Estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon is a sophisticated wine of striking complexity, deep concentration and substantial structure. Built to last, this wine is aged up to 28 months in Taransaud new French oak barrels to heighten complexity and deepen aromas. The ROY Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has garnered consistent praise from wine experts and critics for every single of its vintages.

  • “The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot, aged in 70% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes bursting from the glass with bold crème de cassis, blueberry compote, dark chocolate and candied violets with touches of charcuterie, fragrant soil and cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is charged with exciting energy, featuring loads of black and blue fruit sparks and a fine-grained, plush frame, finishing with great length and a compelling touch of minerality.”

“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Powerful, dark and imposing, the 2016 possesses terrific freshness and energy, both of which give the wine a level of detail that the earlier vintages here did not show. Hints of lavender, spice, chocolate and leather add shades of nuance to this vibrant full-throttle, beautifully, layered Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.”

95 points, Antonio Galloni (Vinous, Dec. 2018)

“Showing the quality of the vintage, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a voluptuous, rounded, full-bodied style as well as textbook notes of crème de cassis, tobacco, cedarwood, and earth. Deep, plush, and seamless on the palate, drink this gorgeous wine over the coming 15 years or more.”
