About The Wine

The PharaohMoans 2017 fruit is grown separately in three different blocks. The first two blocks are our head trained vines on Alban clones. They grow naturally wild exhibiting a great profile of fruit, minerality and tannin structure due to the unique limestone soils. The other block grows on clay, trellised with vertical growth to provide us with dark berry flavors and a firm backbone to the blend. PharaohMoans 2017 Syrah uses 60% new oak and exudes notes of black fruits, smoked meats and exotic spice due to the stem inclusions. The palate is lush and floral with great chewy tannin structure offering aromas of black licorice and boysenberry and plum compote. The aging potential is 10-14 years.

PharaohMoans Westside Syrah 2017

  • "All Syrah brought up in 60% new barrels, the 2017 Syrah Westside offers a thrilling bouquet of black (and some blue) fruits, bay leaf, bacon fat, chocolate, and spring flowers. With a Côte-Rôtie like meatiness and gamey, floral character, medium to full body, no hard edges, and fine tannins, it's another remarkable effort from this estate. Drink it any time over the coming decade or more."
