About the Wine
The winemaking philosophy at O’Shaughnessy Estate winery is to produce wines that express the unique character of the Estate vineyards. The winemaking style is contemporary, utilizing cutting edge fermentation equipment paired with natural, hands-on winemaking. The team's emphasis is on balance and harmony.
The 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the marriage of the estate properties on Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder.
This Cabernet Sauvignon captures the essence of the vintage with its lively bouquet of violets, sandalwood, wild plum and kirsch. The palate is dense and focused with integrated tannins and layers of boysenberry, crème de cassis, bittersweet chocolate and tobacco.
O'Shaughnessy Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
“Starting with the base 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, it's an interesting blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 5% Merlot, 3% St. Macaire, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. It offers a brilliantly pure, seamless bouquet of crème de cassis, toasted spice, new saddle leather, and leafy herbs and lavender. Deep, rich, and multi-dimensional on the palate, it's a full-bodied, layered, awesome entry level wine that can be drunk today with tons of pleasure or cellared for 15-20 years."

“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is gorgeous. Vibrant and focused, with tons of savory energy, the Napa Valley Cabernet is once again a huge overachiever in this range. An exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, pomegranate, blood orange, chocolate, savory herb, leather and sage builds into the deep, resonant finish. Most of this fruit is young-vine Cabernet from the Wools Ranch on Mt. Veeder. O'Shaughnessy's Napa Valley Cabernet is the hidden gem in this range and also one of the very finest wines in its peer group. Don't miss it."
