About the Wine:


Hilliard Bruce's most prestigious releases each year is the Moon bottling which is from block 1, immediately adjacent to the Estate entry gate. The single Pommard clone is planted here on a gentle, east facing slope.


The 2016 Moon was the darkest, meatiest and most spicy Pinot in the cellar, coming from the sandiest portion of the Estate.


The Moon is destemmed, gently punch downs, long cool fermentations, aged for 18 months in 1/3 new French oak barrels and 2/3 neutral French oak.

  • “The 2016 Pinot Noir Moon is a beautiful Pinot Noir that has an elegant, nuanced style in its black raspberries, black cherries, smoked earth, rose petals and spicy aromas and flavors. Reminding me of the 2014 with its incredibly finesse-driven style, it has beautiful intensity, perfect balance between its acidity and tannins, and a great finish. It's one of those wines that grows on you with time in the glass, and while approachable today, it will be better with 2-3 years of bottle age and is going to cruise in the cellar for 10-15 years."
