About The Wine


In 1997, the 14-acre Heimark Vineyard site was planted by viticulturist Mary Hall Maher (Harlan Estate), winemaker Tony Soter (Soter Vineyards), and long-time estate manager Michael Wolf (Scarecrow, VHR). Wines made primarily from the estate’s grapes have received multiple 100-point ratings.


Encouraged by the positive reception, the Heimark family is working with winemaker Françoise Peschon and Michael Wolf to bring to market wine made exclusively from the Estate’s fruit. Françoise has multiple 100-point scores to her name, and was the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Winemaker of the Year. She developed a strong reputation within the Napa community as the long-time Araujo / Eisele Vineyard (before its sale to Chateau Latour), and she is noted for her humble, terroir-led winemaking approach.


Heimark Vineyard’s classical structure results in an inviting wine with great depth and lift. The lengthy finish adds seductive notes of black cherries and tobacco. This wine best shows its full potential after a couple of hours of decanting and is beautifully balanced to reward aging for ten to twenty years.


The 2016 growing season captivated everyone. There was enough winter rain to replenish the vineyard following years of drought, and enough sunshine to ensure the development of the fruit’s rich and exultant flavors. Pristine grapes were harvested on September 20. After twenty-two days of fermentation, the wine was aged in new French Oak for twenty months before bottling this special inaugural vintage.

  • "A gorgeously savoury, mellow nose opens with aromas of black cherries, fresh pipe tobacco and a brilliant graphite element. Deep and layered, the first impression is extremely elegant, framed by top notes of fresh thyme and bay leaf. A touch of orange peel-oil add real lift. The palate - wow, what an amazing structure! Tonnes of energy, quite unctuous on the mid-palate with a lovely dark chocolate bitterness, bags of really juicy, crisp fruit, building to a light and lifted mineral finish. This superb Cabernet is already coming together brilliantly, and should continue to evolve for at least 2 decades."
