About The Wine


The FUTO OV | SL showcases the synergy of the two estate properties in Oakville and Stags Leap District. At its core are co-fermentations of fruit from these hillsides that Jason believes are perfect foils for one another. Oakville is imposing and impressive with its broad-shouldered stature, while Stags Leap is a timeless beauty with classic proportions. This wine is proof that 1+1 can equal 3.


The wine perfectly captures both, the vintage and the synergy between the two sites. Rose hip, black cherry, and sweet savory aromas point to the natural richness of the year in its amped up expression. On the palate, chiseled cassis, raspberry and violet flavors pulse with energy, onto a layered graphitic infused bed of fine tannin. Even with all of its aromatic and flavor explosiveness, there is a level of translucence and energy that elevate the wine.

  • "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Ov|Sl comes from two properties, one in Stags Leap and one in Oakville. It’s another incredible wine from this estate that’s in the same league as the 5500 release, yet is much more serious, backward, and structured. Lead pencil shavings, graphite, black cherries, charcoal, and hints of blueberries all flow to a full-bodied, concentrated, tight 2015 that has massive amounts of fruit and extract, yet stays pure, balanced, and seamless. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

    "The brilliance and attraction to the aromas in the wine is stunning. Blackberries, currants, floras and light bitter chocolate. Some hazelnuts, too. The palate is so reserved with ultra-polished tannins that are tightly compacted. A straight line through the palate. Incredible length, balance and depth. Savory, citrus notes. The Stag's Leap and Oakville grapes were cold fermented. As the winemaker says, the sum is greater than the part. Try in 2022, but already amazing to taste.
