About The Wine
Syrah leads this luscious blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre to play nicely with its signature dash of Petite Sirah. Though the majority of its fruit comes from both Paderewski and Catapult Vineyards, the Petite Sirah hails solely from one west-facing limestone area on the Paderewski Vineyard.
The 2015 Ingenuity presents all its characteristic black and blue fruits, spice and licorice, however, it does so in a more reserved fashion than most vintages. This California Rhône blend continues to reveal fresh aromatics after being open for 24-plus-hours, and the tannins move from picante to velvety as oxygen soften their structure.
Fermented in concrete, stainless steel and oak tanks. It was racked into and aged for 19 months in French oak barrels (60% new) and puncheons. It was bottles on June 5th, 2017.
Epoch Estate Wines Ingenuity 2014
"The 2014 Ingenuity checks in as 50% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 18% Mourvèdre and the balance Petite Sirah brought up in 36% new French oak barrels and puncheons. This is a big, rich, meaty Paso red that offers full-flavored notes of plums, blackberries, violets and hints of white chocolate, full-bodied richness, ripe tannin and a big finish. I love its purity, and this puppy is just loaded with fruit, texture and charm.”
