About The Wine

The Estate Blend provides a snapshot of Epoch vineyards and their specific winemaking practices within every vintage. Though Syrah consistently takes the lead, the exact blend of varieties varies from vintage to vintage. Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Tempranillo regularly play key roles in this wine with occasional cameos from Zinfandel and other varieties.

The 2013 Estate Blend was sourced from two of Paso's 'Grand Cru' vineyards, Paderewski (64%) and Catapault (36%), both owned by Epoch.

Fermented in concrete, stainless steel and oak tanks and 1-ton bins. Aged ~ 18 months: 31% new French oak and 69% neutral oak, it was bottles in June 2016.

Epoch Estate Wines Estate Blend 2016

  • "Deep, glistening ruby. Hugely perfumed cherry, blackcurrant and vanilla scents show outstanding clarity and pick up smoky mineral and floral nuances and strong suggestion of baking spices with air. Juicy and seamless in texture, showing superb depth and intense black and blue fruit liqueur, spicecake and violet pastille flavors that become more animated on the back half. Shows solid finishing thrust, an echo of sweet dark berries and finishes with deftly knit tannins that add gentle grip.
