About The Wine
100% Paderewski Vineyard Syrah, the Block B 2017 is the liquid definition of “iron fist, velvet glove,” i.e. power and elegance in harmony.
Elegance abounds revealing alternating high and base notes: violets, huckleberries, dried herbs, and vanillin oscillate with meaty, earthy, black olive and black licorice flavors. Polished tannins, balanced acidity and minerals captivate every sip.
Fermented in Oak puncheons and stainless steel tanks (27% whole cluster), before being aged for 19 months in mid-sized French oak barrels and puncheons (7% new). It was bottled on 13th June, 2019.
Epoch Estate Wines Block B 2017
"Along the same lines, the 2017 Syrah Block B is 100% Syrah from the Paderewski Vineyard. It's always a more masculine, powerful Syrah, and the 2017 is no exception. It delivers loads of black fruits, bloody meat, marine-like salinity and minerality, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish. This shows the sexy, ripe style of the vintage, and while it's a joy to drink today, it certainly has a solid decade of life ahead of it.”
