About The Wine
DVO Napa Valley is a true reflection of the collaborative spirit of Maya Dalla Valle and Axel Heinz. Their shared passion and skill are on display in full glory, and they went to extraordinary lengths to pick three first-class vineyards in the Oakville, Coombsville and Mount Veeder AVAs. Each brings a distinctive character to the Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, and stylistically it is unlike anything else we’ve tasted from Napa. As Perrotti-Brown says: “Draped in flamboyant drama, this is a very different, very exciting new face of Napa Valley!”
On the DVO 2018, both nose and palate unravel in complex layers of ripe black plums and fresh black cherry and finishes with high toned red fruits, graphite, leather, cured meat and violets. Further notes of black olive, Bay Leaf and Pine needle character adds to the immense complexity on the palate. The 2018 vintage contains a brilliant balance between density and concentration while still preserving the freshness and structure necessary to mature for many decades.
DVO Napa Valley Red 2018
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (containing a splash of Cabernet Franc) is a brand-new wine, representing a collaboration between Dalla Valle in Napa Valley and Ornellaia Estate in Tuscany (hence DVO). Deep garnet-purple colored, it is intensely scented of baked plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake with an emerging perfume of potpourri, Indian spices and forest floor. The full-bodied palate is opulently fruited and plushly textured, delivering bags of floral and spicy nuances with a long, mineral and earth-tinged finish. Draped in flamboyant drama, this is a very different, very exciting new face of Napa Valley!"
