About The Wine
2012 was a spectacular vintage in Napa Valley, with mild temperatures, very little precipitation, and an Indian summer that lasted until late October. Harvest began on the Dalla Valle estate on September 26, precisely in the window for optimum ripeness. The last of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were picked nearly four weeks later. This slow, deliberate pace meant that flavours, aromatics, and tannins continued to develop in nearly ideal conditions.
The 2012 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon shows just how good this varietal can be when grown in this unique terroir. Density and concentration are delivered along with subtlety and nuance, an unusual combination in Napa Valley. The power of the vintage shows through, with intense aromatic notes of black fruits, cedar, and gravel, tightly knit with a strong tannic structure. However, with all that is packed into the wine, there are still many layers that emerge with time in the glass—the tannins show an increasing polish, and the perfume becomes even more effusive and complex—hints that this wine has a long life ahead of it.
Dalla Valle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 LIBRARY RELEASE
"A deep, layered wine, Dalla Valle's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses fabulous richness and texture to match its rich contours. Silky tannins shape the succulent finish in a Cabernet Sauvignon that captures the very best of the vintage. Sweet red cherry, plum, spice, new leather and mocha are laced into the exotic, voluptuous finish. Today, the 2012 speaks to polish above all else. This is a stunning 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon."
