About The Wine


The Santa Barbara County Chardonnay integrates the two coldest AVAs in Santa Barbara, those being the Sta. Rita Hills (sourced from the Peake Ranch Vineyard) and Santa Maria Valley (sourced from the Sierra Madre Vineyard) respectively. This bright and energetic Chardonnay is everything there is to love about the Central Coast. Clones used were 76, 96, Wente, 4 and Robert Young. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation, and was aged in 100% French oak (50% new).


Located on the eastern end of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA on Santa Rosa Road, Peake Ranch is a 105-acre parcel with 50 acres of vines. The plantings include seven different clones of Pinot Noir, three clones of Chardonnay and two each of Syrah and Grenache. The plantings are all along a hill that covers most of the ranch, exposing the vines to the cool air that comes off the Pacific and into the Santa Ynez Valley. The combination of North, South, East and West facing slopes coupled with the exposure to varying degrees of the cool wind give the vineyard an incredible diversity of fruit flavour profiles.


The Sierra Madre Vineyard is situated in the Santa Maria Valley AVA, around 30 miles north of the winery, on a sandy, south-facing slope, and produces a wine that is concentrated, decadent and complex.
