About the Wine:
This 2020 vintage of Hommage Blanc, mainly Roussanne with a splash Viognier and Grenache Blanc. About 20% of the fruits are from the Estate. The rest comes from James Berry, Glenrose and Adelaida. Aged in oak for 6 months, it is elegant with a gorgeous texture.
The Hommage Blanc is the 11th recreation of the very first wine made under the Clos Solène label. Guillaume’s first ever Roussanne was called Essence of Roussanne and was only 2 barrels produced of 100% Roussanne. Today, after ten years of tradition, the blend is Roussanne & Viognier. Elegance and grace with notes of honeysuckle and tropical fruits. The mid-palate is velvety and finishes with great freshness and energy.
Guillaume Fabre: "Our white rhône blend is a lovely on its own; Crisp, very balanced, a great length and a stunning complexity of aromas. Often times, we hear it is a white wine for red drinkers. We’ve sourced 1/3 of the grapes from our estate and the remainder from Glenrose, Adelaida, and James Berry Vineyards. It was aged for 5 months in 300L barrels made of 25% new oak. An elegant white wine that can be aged up to 10 years with an optimum drinking window between 3 to 6 years and ideal temperature to serve at 52°F."
Clos Solène Hommage Blanc 2020
"Pale gold. Pungent pear, yellow apple and peach aromas are complemented by suggestions of honeysuckle, lemon zest and chalky minerals. Seamless and lively on the palate, offering fresh orchard and pit fruit flavors underscored by a dusty mineral quality. Lingers with excellent tenacity on the incisive finish, leaving bitter orange pith and pit fruit notes behind."

"The 2020 Hommage Blanc is Roussanne-dominated yet has 18% Viognier and 4% Grenache Blanc. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and focused, with a beautiful sense of elegance as well as crisp notes of melon, pineapple, and subtle toast. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it evolve gracefully, but I’d enjoy bottles over the coming 2-3 years."
