About the Wine:

 

The fruit for the Hommage Blanc 2018 was sourced from the top sites of the James Berry and Glenrose Vineyards, both renowned for producing some of Paso greatest ever wines. Just 1250 cases of this elixir were produced in 2018.

 

The Hommage Blanc is the 10th recreation of the very first wine made under the Clos Solène label. Guillaume’s first ever Roussanne was called Essence of Roussanne and was only 2 barrels produced of 100% Roussanne. Today, after ten years of tradition, the blend is Roussanne & Viognier. Elegance and grace with notes of honeysuckle and tropical fruits. The mid-palate is velvety and finishes with great freshness and energy.

 

Guillaume Fabre: "Combining Viognier and Roussanne from Glenrose and James Berry Vineyards, the 2018 vintage is stunning. The weather pattern during harvest helped to slow down the maturation a little and therefore develop this flavor profile. I find it to be the best since my arrival 14 years ago. We continue to farm both in head train and trellis. The wine has a refined bouquet of honeysuckle and some tropical notes. Nicely balanced, it has a great texture, a lingering finish with a beautiful minerality. To describe it I would use the word elegance. It was aged 6 months in 320L barrels, mostly neutral with 30% new. This wine can be cellared for 8 to 10 years with a peak at 6 years."

  • "The flagship white, the 2018 Hommage Blanc is a deeper, richer white based on 75% Roussanne and 25% Viognier that was brought up in 30% new French oak. Lots of white peach, honeysuckle, orange blossom, and hints of citrus all emerge from the glass, and it offers medium to full body, hints of spice and brioche, a rounded, supple texture, and outstanding length. It's going to shine on the dinner table. I expect it to put on weight with a year in bottle and keep for over a decade."
