About the Wine:
Harmonie is Guillaume's take on a Chateauneuf-du-pape style wine. The blend is very harmonious between Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. After years of dialing the blend down with less Syrah, Guillaume has landed on a Grenache heavy blend that is fruity, spicy and incredibly aromatic. The Mourvèdre brings some power and the Syrah adds beautiful color, structure, and tannin.
The grapes are sourced from a selection of 15 plots on the Westside of Paso Robles in the Willow Creek District, with a mixture of limestone and shale soil. Aged in almost all 400-liter barrels of used French oak, with a tiny percentage of new French oak for the Syrah. The goal is to focus on Grenache with super great layers and complexities from the soil.
The wine spent 16 months in French oak, 80% neutral and only 40% new, so the emphasis is on texture and style over oak-flavour. It's the highest scoring vintage of this cuvée to date.
Clos Solène Harmonie Grenache 2016
“The Grenache-dominated 2016 Harmonie (there’s 18% Mourvèdre and 14% Syrah) offers a Châteauneuf du Pape-like bouquet of blackberries, peppery herbs, tapenade, and plenty of smoky, meaty notes. Full-bodied, supple, and elegant, with terrific purity, it’s one of the best Rhône blends from Paso Robles out there. "
