About The Wine


All of Clementine Carter's vineyards were harvested in late Autumn, 2018. The two sources for the Sta. Rita Hills Grenache are the Spear Estate and Robert Rae Vineyards. The cool, gorgeous 2018 vintage supplied plentiful rain during thewinter season from January – March that cleansed the soil and nourished the vines.  The crisp, cool weather allowed for the vibrant healthy vines to lovingly meander their way through each part of the growing cycle, providing extraordinary flavor development without having to trade off pleasure for sugar accumulation.


Each vineyard in the set is organically farmed, with all sites are treated the same with the goal of allowing Grenache from Santa Barbara to tell its own story. 


Once in the winery, the grapes are given a 3-5 day cold soak. There is a one-third whole cluster fermentation in each small 1.5 ton stainless steel open top fermenter, followed by 30 days on the skins in cool temperatures for aromatic complexity. Twice per day gentle punch downs to allow the carbonic fermentative powers express themselves through the process. The juice is then pressed directly into neutral French oak barrels.



The first racking was in July (2019), before bottling in the last week of August 2019.
