About the Wine:


The 2013 Merlot was whole-berry-fermented and aged in 70% new oak for 22 months.


The fruit comes from two blocks atop a knoll in the famed Hyde Vineyard, where harvests typically yield less than two tons per acre. It’s a youthful wine that’s invitingly approachable, while still offering the richness and decadence.


Bill, Alicia and Mark released the second cuvée, the Buccella Merlot, in the 2005 vintage. It stands out among its peers for its aromatic qualities and purity which are results of 100% of the fruit being sourced from the famous Hyde Vineyard in Carneros, the cooler part of Napa in the far south of the Valley. None other than Pomerol-master and friend of the Deems, Alexandre Thienpont (Le Pin and Vieux Château Certain) has made his love and admiration of this Merlot known on many occasions. I’d say that’s pretty much as high as praise can get… Production rarely exceed 450 cases in any given vintage.
