About The Wine

The Sugarloaf vineyard is located in the far south of Napa Valley, in the American Canyon region. Bevan's own block is sat of two distinct soil types: black rock and red volcanic rock. It's a much cooler part of Napa due to the influence of the marine breezes from the Bay, although the large rocks in the soil radiate heat in the evening.

Bevan Cellars Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard Proprietary Red 2019

  • "Huge blue fruits, cassis, violets, and leafy herbs notes emerge from Bevan’s 2019 Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, a full-bodied, fresh, lively Cabernet that has silky yet building tannins, good acidity, and one heck of a finish. As with all of the 2019s here, it already offers pleasure, yet I suspect a few years of bottle age are warranted here.

"A barrel sample with a deep garnet-purple color, the 2019 Proprietary Red Sugarloaf Mountain is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It has beautifully lifted red fruit notes with loads of earthy notes of mossy tree bark and truffles plus a touch of clove oil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is fresh and lively with bold flavors and a satiny texture, finishing with a spicy kick.
