About the Wine

The southern reaches of Napa's Vaca Mountain range is home to an enviable line-up of Estates including Chappellet, Colgin, Bryant, Continuum and Kongsgaard. Overlooking them all from a height of 640m above sea level is the exclusive Au Sommet Estate, on Atlas Peak. It's here that legendary winemaker Heidi Barrett produces the Au Sommet Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon, and the newly released 2019 vintage stands as one of her finest to date.

When looking for the best 'Mountain Cabernets', the essential attributes are heightened minerality, complex dark fruit flavours, purity and elegance, all built upon an unmistakable structure: Au Sommet 2019 is the quintessential expression.

Heidi founded Au Sommet with her close friend John Schwartz (dubbed 'The Mayor of Napa' by the wine community). John is one of the most successful restaurateurs and real estate owners in Northern California, and Heidi carved her place in the history books as winemaker at Screaming Eagle from the very first vintage in 1992 to 2006.
They began working together in 2003, and a few years later they found their dream vineyard towards the top of Atlas Peak. The first vintage was in 2008, and it’s been one of the most collectible Napa Cabernets ever since.

Au Sommet Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

  • "The 2019 Au Sommet Cabernet Sauvignon is magnificent. A classic mountain wine, the 2019 offers up an exciting mix of dark fruit, gravel, graphite, savory herbs, chocolate and menthol. The bouquet alone is mesmerizing, but there is plenty of fruit depth, complexity and overall structure, too. Quite simply, the 2019 is one of the best wines I have tasted from John Schwartz's Atlas Peak estate. Sadly, there is no 2018 or 2020."
