About The Wine

From one of the steepest hillside vineyards at the top of Chalk Hill Road in the southeast corner of Alexander Valley, this exquisite site creates incredibly gorgeous wines with delicate, soft tannins that melt into the juicy dark fruits of this powerful Cabernet.

All of the fruit is hand harvested and brought into the winery within hours of being picked. Everything is methodically and obsessively sorted. A cold soak of 4-7 days with minimal air incorporation starts the extraction and then cool fermentations with native yeast carry out the remaining. Air and temperature are controlled throughout the 10-15 day fermentation and extended maceration is determined lot-by-lot when Jesse walks the fine line of full extraction but still keeping an elegant and silky texture. Wines go through malolactic fermentation in barrel and are aged (sur-lees) for 22 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and un-acidified.

Aperture Del Rio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

  • "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Del Rio Vineyard comes from a site in the Alexander Valley and is 100% varietal, aged 22 months in new oak. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as a gorgeous nose of pure crème de cassis, lead pencil, chocolate, and white flowers, this beauty is flawlessly balanced and medium to full-bodied, with classic Sonoma minerality and a great, great finish. It's just a complex, rich, yet elegant Cabernet that does everything right. Drink bottles any time over the coming 20-25 years."
