About The Wine
The flagship ADAMVS Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the opulent texture and sophistication that make the wines of Howell Mountain so compelling. An estate wine of depth and elegance, ADAMVS is a meticulous barrel selection crafted around a core of fruit from the prized red soils and sun-filled exposures. The fruit was harvested from the oldest block of vines, at the highest elevation on the Estate, from 29th September to 11th Octobers, and spent an average of 28 days macerating on the skins. It was racked into 75% new French oak for 22 months prior to release.
The 2016 growing season marked the end to California’s five-year drought and offered the overall conditions for a classic Napa Valley vintage. A wet January, March, and April meant replenished soils and ultimately an early start to the season. The dry, moderately warm summer helped to support even ripening through a mild fall with few heat spikes. This ideal growing season at the ADAMVS Estate resulted in wines of great finesse, power, and complexity—perhaps the vintage of the decade?
ADAMVS Cabernet Sauvignon ADAMVS 2016
"In the running for the greatest vintage to date at this estate, the inky colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon ADAMVS shows the incredible quality of this terroir as well as the vintage. Awesome notes of crème de cassis, crushed violets, and flowers all soar from the glass and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth. Where the 2015 isn’t holding anything back, this beauty stays more focused and composed, with elegance paired with restrained power. It has charm even today yet is upwards of a decade away from maturity and will be 50-year-wine. Hats off to winemaker Sarah Donley and consultant Philippe Melka for a sensational, magical wine!"
