About The Estate:

In 2000, Fred Schrader created Double Diamond as part of his continuing quest to make the best Cabernet Sauvignon that Napa Valley can offer. This unique expression of the region carries on the tradition of earning critical acclaim and drawing passionate fans that Fred began in 1998 with Schrader Cellars.

More than 4,000 people patiently wait three years for the opportunity to purchase two bottles of Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. Fred Schrader created Double Diamond to offer his loyal followers a taste of his iconic brand as a reward for their patience. After a three-year hiatus, Double Diamond returned by popular demand in 2018.

Over the course of a nineteen-year collaboration with Fred Schrader, winemaker Thomas  Rivers-Brown has led Schrader Cellars to an unprecedented record of twenty seven 100-point scores from some of the world’s most respected critics.

Thomas Rivers Brown followed his interest in winemaking to Napa Valley and was working at a wine shop when he first met Fred Schrader. After a few glasses of wine and a brief but lifechanging conversation, Fred knew Thomas was the perfect choice to be his new winemaker, even though Thomas had never made a single barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon.

More than 20 years later, Thomas’s passion, natural ability, and dedication to excellence have helped lead Schrader Cellars to an unprecedented record of 33x100-point scores to date (Jan. 2021) from the world’s most respected critics. With Double Diamond, Thomas continues to explore the vast diversity and fine quality of the Oakville terroir.

The striking new label was designed by Carol Schrader herself, and cleverly balances a classically styled core with an edge of disruption, a snap of the unexpected.
